3D Camera Rig Hire

We are pleased to announce our computer controlled, 3D camera rigs are available  from our offices in Central London. The rigs can be set up in both mirror and side by side mode and we carry plates to fit all major camera systems including RED, Sony, Panasonic, Epics, MX and Arri; it can also accommodate smaller cameras.

Perfect for shooting 3D feature films, documentaries, music videos, short films, live stereoscopic 3D events or broadcast 3D (e.g. Sky), our 3D camera rig is highly customised and has been developed for our feature film projects and it is suitable for any professional camera.

If required, we offer skilled 3D camera operators and technicians as well as stereographers and 3D editors.

This 3D camera rig has been used successfully on a wide range of stereoscopic 3D projects – drama, commercials, documentaries, music videos.

In terms of setup time and quality of image, our 3D camera rig compares extremely favourably to any other Stereo rig on the market and it is at least as good as the competition. As well as UK based 3D shoots, our team and camera rig have been used globally — Singapore, South Africa, the Middle East, USA…

Using this 3D camera rig, we have shot all over the world in some of the most unforgiving circumstances imaginable (caves, rivers, waterfalls, mountains etc.) where it performed amazingly in incredibly difficult conditions, which in many cases broke every rule in the stereo 3D handbook — low light, high contrast, poor depth detail, no setup time, multiple flaring light sources, reflections, flat water, running water, spray etc.  In most locations we can set up within 20 minutes once the camera location is chosen.

1. Our 3D camera rig features an advanced motion control system making stereoscopic 3D filming highly accurate. Inter axial distance can be set from zero mm to 170 mm in “Mirror Mode” or from 76mm (camera dependant) to 500 mm in “Side By Side Mode.”

2. Convergence of the cameras is accurate to 6 arc seconds or 0.1 degrees, one of the best statistics on the market.

3. Our setup features a 7″ PC that controls the motors on the 3D rig. It can be cabled at any distance and the onboard touch screen panel computer allows for focal length, focal distance and iris settings on both lenses to be synchronised and fed back to the onboard computer thereby automating inter-axial and convergence settings which are applied in real time as focal length and focal distance are changed.

The lens control motors can be fitted to most standard prime and zoom lenses and with the built in lens control system quick and easy lens calibration can be achieved. This saves a massive amount of time.

4. The 3D rigs are manufactured from high grade aluminium using precision CNC machines.

5. Grade 1 quality, highly specialised motors, motion controllers and mechanics ensure that the cameras are always accurately positioned.

6. The 3D camera rig comes ready for assembly in a series of custom built flight cases, designed for portability and protection.

We can provide on-location preview, on-location stereoscopic 3D rushes, motorized I/O control/convergence etc.

Using our set up — most image corrections are generally limited to colour differences. There are subtle geometric and alignment adjustments on the rig which means that we tend to be able to get very close to 100% accurate most of the time, leaving only minor adjustments in post, along with the standard corrections.
