Very interesting behind the scenes account of life on THE HOBBIT 3D in which Peter Jackson and his crew explain and talk about the extra intricacies and challenges filming in 3D presents versus 2D filming.
Well worth spending ten minutes watching because there is lots of great info: 2K, 4K and 5K, Red Epic etc. Some of the magic of 3D revealed … and some telling comments about The Lord of The Rings. 2012 – LIST OF 3D FILMS SCHEDULED FOR RELEASE

Many thanks to Peter Jackson and his terrific team for sharing this with all of us enthusiasts of film making, exploring of unchartered countries and friends of hobbits!
Great… would love the similar approach for my science fiction film “TriRama”
Fascinating. Re the higher intensity colour, they seem to suggest that was due to the Epic, but I haven’t heard those remarks from other Epic users, is that due to double Epics in a 3D rig, or 5K, or 48 fps? Also are there any exposure issues? Plus, is the workflow down to 2D affected?
Can’t wait to see the films!
